Hadith Jibril (Iman, Islam & Ihsan) - Shaykh Hamza Yusuf

This Hadith, narrated by Umar bin Al Khattab R.A, describes an encounter between the Prophet Muhammad SAW and a mysterious man in white, who is later revealed to be the Angel Jibril (Gabriel). The man asks the Prophet about key aspects of the faith, leading to a discussion on the foundations of Islam, Iman (faith), Ihsan (excellence), and signs of the Day of Judgment.

These pillars are not just for knowledge; they require action and commitment

  5. Belief the Day of Judgment
  6. Belief in Qada’ & Qadar .
Iman (faith) is described as a deep conviction and affirmation in one’s heart.


Ihsan. 

It is d

efined as doing good deeds and making the world a better place.
The essence of Ihsan is to worship Allah as if you can see Him, and if not, to act as if He is always watching.

Signs of the Hour (Qiyamah):

The Hadith highlights societal changes, such as children disrespecting their parents, as indicators of the approaching Day of Judgment.
